Been wanting to get the iMac to replace my current Macbook, but it seems that a Windows self-built PC with similar specs would be a lot cheaper. Came up with the specs, just thought if any experts here could see if this would work well:

Intel Core i7 2600K & GIGABYTE Z68X-UD3P-B3
G.SKILL RipjawsX DDR3-1600MHz 8GB (2X4GB)
Sapphire HD 6970 DDR5 2GB
Crucial M4 128GB SSD
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 32MB for Storage
HP dvd1270i SATA 24X DVD Rewriter
FSP Aurum AU-600W
Cooler Master CM690

Any views? I should be able to run WoW at very high settings right?

What are you going to do with a terabyte lol thats crazy space and i run wow at highest settings with way older specs and thats a 400 dollar graphics card...def more than enough to run wow

I'm thinking of frapsing our raids for luls. The HDD is SG$66 only, so thought might as well. :D

this pc is nuts! lol, get another board, the Z68 model i think is with the built in GPU (not sure), but its no biggie, will just cost less. and if you wont overclock now or in the future, get a non-K processor, its like 80$ diff. other than that... :fap:

EDIT: get a better power supply for safety, get an 800ish for overclocking.

gnome speaks the truth, those specs you'll want 750w +, also look into a small ssd for your os install and use the large one for storage.

Ok I'll get a better PSU. There's a promotion going on atm, and the K processor + mobo bundle is actually going for cheaper than the non-K processor.

Why would I need a SSD for storage? I was planning to install OS and WoW on the Crucial M4 already.

owait didn't see, does it have sandforce? if so :fap:

What is this sandforce you speak of

Specs say Micron MLC... So I guess that's a yes? Not sure.
