4.0.1 Class Balance - Update

With that said, here are the specific changes we made in reference to my previous post:

1) We buffed the base points and coefficients of many warrior dps abilities. We didn't do as much to tanking abilities.

We buffed the base points and coefficients of many Ret abilities.

We buffed the base points and coefficients of many Feral cat abilities.

2) We lowered the base points and coefficients of many mage abilities, but lowered Fire more than the other two.

3) We nerfed Shadow Word: Death, but it is possible we didn't nerf it enough. It should not be Shadow's biggest spell.

4) We returned Searing Pain's damage to its 3.3.5 levels.

5) We increased the benefit of resilience by 50% for players level 80 and below. The tooltips will probably not reflect this change.

We don't have any other changes to announce at this time. I am reluctant to mention additional classes or specs that we are looking at currently for fear of instilling excitement or panic.

See Josh, warrior buffs!

And damn, I was on my Mage leveling at 73 I had unlimited mana and arcane's pretty fun

Arcane is a bit odd. I tried it last night on Saurfang. Using Mage Armour, barely go below max mana the entire fight. Don't know if that was after the nerf.

Just tested fire dps on dummy. No more crazy number but I do think it will scale well with raid buff.
Embedding frostfire into rotation and time combustion together with the rest of dots then impact are the largest changes imo.

I din manage to read much, but it seems we should leave haste untouched n convert crit n spirit into mastery.

Dummy test is not conclusive for fire Mage as far as I know. The max potential will be those fight with multiple adds.

Yeah! I was thinking maybe it has something to do with the mana returning talents too, but for sure it couldn't be because of gear as my mage is still levelling. Was spamming Arcane Explosions and staying at almost full MP

arcane is crazy 1 1 1 1 2 rotaion changed to 1x10 2... mirrior 4 set bouns and arcane CDs arcane blast criting for 87K crits in a 25man 31k dps till CD's droped off and finshed up rotface with 18k..some bad rng and noob mageness sure it could have been higher shame i only respec'd for the last fight

Once my Horde mage reaches 80, another viable option to xfer to Alliance for Cata!

Yeah, the burning phase is crazy, I think many mages will stay as arcane until cata fully released. It's a much straight forward class to play now.

Just had some practice on icc 10 today as fire, it's dynamic and not easy to excel. I could only do bout 11 to 12 at best. Clever use of impact on certain fight is the key to boost overall damage done. Mastering 2 specs is important, as both got pros n cons. Unlike last time fire being dominating in most fights.
